About Best Oregon Tours
Best Oregon Tours has run small-group guided tours out of Eugene since 2011 — nature, history, cuisine, and the roads less traveled across the Willamette Valley, Oregon Coast, and Cascades. We keep our groups small (6–14 guests) and our pace unhurried.
Job Summary
We're hiring a driver/guide(s) to safely transport and guide small groups on day trips as well as infrequent multi-day tours around Oregon. This role is part driver, part storyteller, part host. Prior tour guide experience is not required — a clean driving record and genuine enthusiasm for Oregon matter more to us than a resume.
Responsibilities:
-
Safely drive company vans carrying 6–12 guests on scheduled tour routes
-
Deliver tour narration and guest interaction using training and materials provided by BOT (no need to arrive with this knowledge)
-
Maintain vehicle cleanliness and basic pre/post-trip checks
-
Manage day-of logistics: timing, stops, meal/rest breaks, and schedule changes
-
Respond calmly and professionally to unexpected situations (weather, delays, guest needs)
-
Represent BOT professionally as the primary guest-facing team member for the day
Required Qualifications:
-
Valid driver's license, minimum age 25
-
Clean driving record — this is the most heavily weighted qualification for this role
-
Ability to pass a standard driving test, background check, and DOT medical exam
-
Comfortable speaking with and hosting groups of strangers for extended periods (up to a full day, occasionally multi-day)
-
Genuine interest in Oregon's natural areas, history, and diverse communities
-
Reliable availability including some weekends
-
Physically able to assist with light lifting (guest luggage, equipment) and moderate walking on tour stops
Preferred (not required):
-
First Aid/CPR certification
-
Prior tour guiding, hospitality, or customer service experience
-
Familiarity with the Oregon Coast, Cascades, or Willamette Valley
-
Experience driving 10-12 passenger vans
Compensation & Benefits:
-
Competitive hourly wage
-
Gratuities
-
Flexible scheduling
-
Paid driver training on tour routes, content, and guest management responsibilities
